SKADAR LAKE

SKADAR LAKE

An unspoiled wild wonder and one of the most amazing natural phenomena of Montenegro, the Skadar Lake is the largest fresh water reservoir in the Balkan Peninsula, covering 391 km². This expansive, green lake lined with lily pads is also a geological crypto depression, with some parts of the waterbed sitting below the mean sea level.

Due to its geographic position and sub Mediterranean climate, the lake is one of Europe’s most significant habitats for swamp birdlife, after the Danube River delta. With around 280 bird species, including the rare curly pelican, a trademark of the National Park, the Skadar Lake has plenty of room for exploration and discovery. Witness the unparalleled natural beauty, lush evergreen vegetation, bays, capes, and islands that are home to numerous monasteries, churches, and holy monuments. This tour is perfect for keen explorers and those seeking an encounter with the traditional Montenegrin waterside living.

Duration:

4 – 5 hours

Includes:

Professional guide, comfortable transfer by chauffeured vehicle, entry to Skadar Lake National Park, one-hour boat trip inclusive of traditional Montenegrin lunch with wine or a soft drink.
